KATHMANDU - SWAYAMBHUNATH

Patan city known as Lalitpur the city of fine arts and beauty. The Patan
Durbar Square is full of ancient palaces, temples and shrines, noted for
their exquisite carvings during Malla regime. It consists of three main
chowks or courtyards, the central Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Keshave Narayan
Chowk. Krishna Temple holds a commanding position in the palace complex
of Patan. It is the only temple in Nepal having 21 spires and is completely
made of stone. Swayambhunath stupa watches over the valley from the top
of a hillock on its western side. The huge stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist
sites in Nepal and its establishment is linked to the creation of the KTM
Valley out of a primordial lake. The Swayambhu is also known as Samhengu
and is listed as a World Heritage.

Kathmandu
- Pashupatinath - Boudhanath - Bhaktapur
Pashupatinath Temple is the most sacred Hindu Shrine and one of the most
important sites in the world for Shiva worshippers. The richly ornamented
pagoda houses the sacred linga or phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. Boudhanath
Stupa is the largest stupa in the valley. It looms 36 meters high and presents
one of the most facinated specimens of stupa designs. This colossal and
ancient stupa is one of the biggest in the world. Bhaktapur (Bhadgaon),
the city of devotess, situated at an altitude of 1404 m, shaped like a conch-shell.
The main square of the city contains innumerable temples and other architectural
showpieces like the Lion Gate the statue of King Bhupatindra Mall the golden
gate, the palace of 55 windows, the Batsala temple and the bell of barking
dogs etc. Nyatapola Temple is one of the tallest pagodas and is famous for
its massive structure and subtle workmanship.
